This project embraces the interplay of functional and abstract aspects of our daily lives, converting each component into a different layer of a small domestic space. The project simultaneously caters for the need of the targeted clients young working class people, both single and couples, exploring the possibilities of private and public living. To facilitate this, the project has introduced movement and change as the conceptual framework of the project where space is adjustable to each person as well as to different usages they require. The concept borrows from the rubik cube, and expresses the transitionfrom pure to hybrid. All the functional areas are hidden in a lifted floor, suspended ceiling and thick walls. When these elements are packed away, the open space of the room is airy , while the library on the ceiling can reflect the user's personality. The domestic spaces of the room can be adjusted via a re-configurable series of panels that can slide and volumes that can move creating all of the individual spaces of the room and to transform it for various uses. The existing ornaments that are part of the architectural style of the building, mantelpiece and moldings, become one of the design's layers able to be hidden or more prominent according to the user's intentions. The light is divided into three parts: the principle, the hidden and the highlighted .The principle is the general light which is on the ceiling, the hidden light defines all the functions turning on and off according to the movement, the third one highlights the existing ornaments. The choice of the colors and materials is to create a welcoming and intimate environment to every person, simply using lightly colored softwood combined with pure white surfaces differentiating on the texture. When all are closed, the predominant material is the wood running on all the directions and surfaces, walls, floor and ceiling particularly. When they are open everything turns to be white. White expresses the wholeness and completion, while its visual simplicity contradicts the complexity of the design. The combination of the three elements, wood, white surfaces and the light connotes and uplifts the notion of dreamas it is the common living force between people passing from these rooms.
